Who is Rodney Velardi?

He is a basketball coach for Atlantic Community College.

Velandi who has been coaching the New Jersey College  for 13 years had to resigned.

He resigned after two of his players had communication devices in their helmets.’

The coach said the players used the devices during training and not live matches.

The school where Rodney Velardi worked said he had violated NJCAA region 19 rules.

In a statement they said:

“We found that coach Velardi was in direct violation of the [NJCAA Region 19 rules].”

“After the situation with the game, he was suspended pending the outcome of the NJCAA Region 19 review, and at that time, we had asked for him to resign”.

Who were Rodney Velardi players who were caught with these cheating communication devices?

Ethan Dodd was the first of Rodney Velardi players to be caught. He was caught with the cheating device on 22nd April.

He was caught during a game between their team and Rowan College Gloucester County.

Their team won by 11 to 4. Ethan Dodd is a freshman pitcher.

The opponent team felt that Dodd was using the device but had no evidence.

They opponent players said they heard noises from Ethad Dodd helmet.

“I just thought, nah. I didn’t believe it. I didn’t not believe him, but for that sophisticated of cheating, I just didn’t think they would do it. I didn’t think they would do it. For me, I wasn’t going to go right up there in the first inning. We had to confirm that’s what it was. So, second time up, those same guys got on, and he was confirming with me the whole time. Once those guys got on, he’s saying, ‘I hear it. I hear it.’”

Though, officials said they could not prove whether they used them to cheat during the game or not, they issue is been investigated.
