Who was Dylan McCarthy?
He was a 29 year old man from Limerick.
He was attacked while he was on a night out in Monasterevin.
The 29 year old was found unresponsive on the street of Monasterevin in Co Kildare.
He was taken to Tallaght University Hospital, but he unfortunately passed away.
This happened on August 21st,2022.
He was in the town to celebrate the birth of a baby along with a family.
His father too was taken to hospital where he was treated for head injuries and discharged.
The incident happened outside of a pub.
Dylan McCarthy has since been buried on Sunday, August28, 2022.
His family wrote on Facebook to celebrate him. They wrote: “You’re now peacefully sleeping in a world of Purest light,where Angeles sing their sweet refrain and where everything shines bright”
Five people arrested on Dylan McCarthy death.
There has been good news for his family as five men have been arrested in connection to his death.
The five people arrested are said to be in their 20s.
This follows Gardai investigation into the assault. Gardai statement on the arrest reads:
“As part of the ongoing investigation into the incident of serious assault in Monasterevin, Co. Kildare on the 21st August 2022, Gardaí have arrested five men this morning.
“The men, all aged in their 20s are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at multiple Garda Stations in Co. Kildare.
“Investigations are ongoing.”
