Who is Carolyn Bertozzi?
Carolyn Ruth Bertozzi is an American Chemist. She was born on 10th October,1966.
Her works ranges from Chemistry and Biology. She is famed for coining the term “bioorthogonal chemistry“. This refers to the “chemical reactions compatible with living systems”.
Carolyn latest work has to do with “synthesis of of chemical tools to study cell surface sugars called glycans and how they impact diseases such as cancer, inflammation, and viral infections like COVID-19”.

She is proud holder of Anne T. and Robert M. Bass Professorship in Humanities and Sciences from that school.
She is also famed for a being a receipient of the MacArthur “genius” award, whenshe was only 33 years.
She also remains the first woman to have taken the famous Lemelson-MIT Prize faculty award.
Bertozzi who has been described as a model for students and colleagues was jointly named the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2022.
It is an honour she received “for the development of click chemistry and bioorthogonal chemistry”.
Bertozzi whose father was a physics professor has two sisters.
She is not married as she is a lesbian, and has been out since the late 1980s.
Who is Barry Sharpless?
Karl Barry Sharpless is an American Chemist. He was born on 28th April,1941 in ( Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
He is said to love fishing based on his childhood environment.
Sharpless is well celebrated two times Nobel Laureate in the subject of Chemistry.
His famous work relates to stereoselective reactions and click chemistry.
His first Nobel Prize was in 2001 when he was honored “for his work on chirally catalysed oxidation reactions”.
His second prize is in 2022 where he won jointly with two others. This lates prize is for his role “for the development of click chemistry and bioorthogonal chemistry”.
Sharpless is a family man as he is married Jan Dueser.
That marriage happened in 1965 and they shared three children together.
He is suffered lost in one eye during a lab accident in 1970.
The accident is said to have made Sharpless to remark that “There’s simply never an adequate excuse for not wearing safety glasses in the laboratory at all times”
Who is Morten Meldal?
Morten Peter Meldal is a Danish Chemist.
He was born on 16th January, 1954. Morten is a professor at the famous University of Copenhagen in Denmark.
He is famed for the development of CuAAC-click reaction.
The developmenet is said to be concurrent, but independent from that of Valery V. Fokin and K. Barry Sharpless.
He was honored with the Nobel Prize in Chemistry along with two other Americans.
It is an honour for his role and efforts “for the development of click chemistry and bioorthogonal chemistry”.
He is said to be currently single.
