Ghana Post fails to remit to Bolga Technical University an amount of GHC18,769 after sales of forms.

The Ghana Post Company has  failed to remit an amount of GHS18,769 to the Bolgatanga Technical University.

The amount represents money collected from the sales of forms.

This was revealed by the Report of the Auditor-General on the Public Accounts of Ghana – Technical Universities for the year ended 31 December 2021.

“We noted that Ghana Post Company Ltd sold 750 forms amounting to GH¢100,210.00 on behalf of the University but remitted only GH¢81,450.00 leaving an amount of GH¢18,760.00 unpaid.”

“The non-collection of the remaining amount has denied the University of the needed revenue to fund its planned activities,” the report said.

Failure of the University to retrieve the full amount, according to the report, contravenes “regulation 46 of the Public Financial Management Regulations, 2019 (L. 1. 2378) stipulates that a Principal Spending Officer shall ensure that non-tax revenue is efficiently collected.”

The Auditor-General further recommended that the “Director of Finance should ensure the collection of GH¢18,760.00 from Ghana Post Company Ltd 30 days upon the receipt of the Management Letter.”

“Follow-ups had since been made and plans were far advanced for receipt of the balance within the shortest possible time,” the report noted.
