Akufo Addo says Ghanaian are lucky to have him as President. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo said he is Ghana’s best bet despite the fierce criticisms, which he said was coming from members of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and some civil society groups.
“You are lucky you have me as president”, the President said.
President Nana Addo made this statement while attacking the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for what he said has been neglect of some parts of the country after ruling over thirty years.
While addressing Chiefs and people of both the Upper West and Savanna regions over this week, Nana Akufo Addo wondered for example why the Yapei-Kusawgu District was still underdeveloped. He said the lack of development in the district shocks him, given that the people keep voting for the opposition party NDC.
“One of the things that surprise me and I have to confess, we have to speak the truth to each other; that Yapei – Kusawgu since 1992, I have known two people who have been Members of Parliament, the first one was my very good friend Amadu Seidu, when he left, the elder brother who is an excellent young man who is a minister for Natural Resources and MP for Damango, Abu Jinapor his elder brother John then took over the MP for Yapei – Kusawgu”.
The Presiednt continue: “What this tells me is that the 8 elections conducted in Ghana since 1992 have always gone to the National Democratic Congress and yet when I come here, I hear all of these demands. The young man who for a long time was Deputy Minister of power, 17 communities in his district still have not been connected to electricity grid”.
He said unlike the NDC, he will heed to the demands of the people and that all their concerns will be addressed.
“But Yagbonwura, you are lucky, you have me as the President of Ghana. I’m going to do it for you. In the same way, no secondary school, no Senior Technical School, in the whole of Kusawgu area, ahhh, eiiiiiii”, he wondered.
“Yagbonwura I’m not here in a campaign, but I think I have said enough for you and your people Kusawgu to think about your vote in 2024”, he added.
However, the MP for the area came out with a spirited defense. John Jinapor said the president came to power through lies and still wants to rode through lies into the 2024 elections.
He said the NDC has seen his tricks and will matched him with facts.
The facts he added are that he had connected over 100 communities to the national grid during his tenure as Minister, but that the NPP has only added 17 communities to the grid in their six years on power.
Mr. Jinapor further revealed that Nana Addo promised the people of his district a secondary school and that he was also to divide the district into two.
The MP said the president has failed in both promises and wants to ride on attacks to hide his failures.
