Who was John Keenan?

He was a 16 year old guy. John Keenan was a young boxer.

He has been described as a young and promising boxer.

Keenan was with the Olympic Boxing in Galway.

How did John Keenan died?

He died on Saturday along with one other passenger in the car.

This happened when their car crashed into water in Galway at a place called Menlo Pier.

The incident happened at the outskirt of Galway and reportedly occurred around 2.40 am.

The scene of the accident that claimed the life of young John Keenan has been sealed off by Gardai. This is to pave way for their investigation.

Keenan along with two others were taken from the water and transported to Galway University hospital.

John Keenan died with one other, but the third victim sadly passed on on Saturday afternoon.

The third victim, who died today has been named as Christopher Stokes.

A Gardai spokesperson released a statement in which he said: “Gardaí are continuing to investigate a fatal single vehicle road traffic incident that occurred in the early hours of Saturday 11th February 2023 in County Galway.

“Three males were removed from the water and taken to University Hospital Galway where two of the males passed away.

“The third male removed from the water and taken to University Hospital Galway has now also passed away.

“The scene at Menlo Pier remains preserved for technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators.

“Gardaí are appealing to anyone who has information that can assist with this investigation to contact Gaillimh Garda Station on 091 538000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
