Who was Colm Murray?

He was a young footballer, who was only 20 years. He has been described as a talented GAA star.

He represented Coralstown-Kinnegad in football  and hurling at Raharney.

He is reported to have had a great impact in Coralstown-Kinnegad especially in the last season.

Murray played at the senior championship and is credited for his side win over Garrycastle.

He scored two late goals in that game which gifted Coralstown-Kinnegad win over Garrycastle.

C. Murray is said to be involved in his team game in the quarter final at the senior level.

He featured in their game against Killucan.

In his other side, which is hurling, he was part of the Raharney squad that lost to Ringtown in the 2022 championship final.

How did Colm Murray died?

He was involved in an accident. The accident occurred on Monday.

His car, in which he was a passenger collided with a car which was parked.

Their car subsequently hit a wall too. The driver of the car was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Westmeath GAA paid tribute to him in a statement saying: ‘’All associated with Westmeath GAA are very saddened to learn of the passing of Colm Murray, who represented both Coralstown-Kinnegad (football) & Raharney (hurling).

“The fast attacker had also donned the maroon & white jersey with pride at underage level. All at Westmeath GAA send our thoughts and prayers to Colm’s parents and sister, and to all his family, friends and teammates at this extremely heartbreaking time”.

Is Colm Murray related to the late Irish Broadcaster: C. Murray.

Late Broadcaster Colm Murray was born on 22nd March,1952. He was a broadcaster, news reader and  sports journalist.

He was famed for his reports on horse racing. The late broadcaster was working with RTÉ.  He  worked with them from 1978 all the way to 2013. He died on the job in 2013 from motor neurone disease.

Broadcaster  Murray was said to be the first sportscaster  on their Six One News.

He was married to his wife, Anne Murray. He had two daughters with her. The names of Murray daughters include Catherine Murray and Patricia Murray.

From this information, we can say, footballer Murray is not his son. He may be his distant relative,but  not his son.
