We will look at Bruna Fonseca, who is the woman found dead in Cork.

Who was Bruna Fonseca?

She was a 28 year old  woman from Cork. She was a Brazilian national who was residing in Ireland.

Bruna Fonseca  was said to have been found unconscious and unresponsive. The 28 year old later pronounced dead at the scene of the incident.

Bruna Fonseca incident occurred at a flat  during lunchtime, as emergency providers and Gardai went called to the scene.

Her body has been taken to Cork University Hospital. There is a post- mortem to be done

Who is the suspect in the death of Bruna Fonseca?

A suspect has been picked over the death of Bruna Fonseca.

The suspect is a man in his twenties. The unnamed man is said to be in custody over Fonseca.

Gardai have issued a statement on her death.

“Gardaí in Cork continue to investigate the death of 28-year-old Bruna Fonseca whose body was discovered in a residential property on Liberty Street, Cork City, this morning Sunday, 1st January 2023.

“A post-mortem examination has been completed by Dr Bolster, Office of the State Pathologist, the results of which are not being released for operational reasons.

“Investigating Gardaí continue to detain a man aged in his 20s arrested this morning under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at Bridewell Garda Station, Cork.

“The investigation is being led by a Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) and a Garda Family Liaison Officer (FLO) has been appointed to liaise with the family of the deceased. Divisional Scenes of Crime officers are continuing to examine the crime scene which remains sealed off.“Investigations are ongoing and further updates will follow”.
