Who is Stephen Tompkinson?

Stephen Phillip Tompkinson is a famous British actor who is famed for his roles in the television movie Marcus in the Chancer,Damien Day in Drop the Dead Donkey among others.

He was also part of films such as Brassed off and  Hotel Splendide.

He attended the Central school of speech and drama which is London and graduated in 1988. He went straight into acting, as he won Carleton Hobbs Bursary  which gave him a contract to be a member of the BBC’s Radio drama company.

His roles in television dates back to the 1980s. Tompkinson co-starred with Heartbeat celebrity Nick Berry in the famous min-series In Deep which was part of the BBC1’s crime Doubles season.

He was described for that role as  “Tompkinson as you have never seen him before” and a career “gamble”.

The actor who could not agreed more with the description had this to say about his role in that season:In Deep is a very gritty drama and not the kind of thing that I’m normally associated with”.

Tompkinson was a cast member of  an  Inspector Alan Banks in DCI Banks: Aftermath.

The name of his father is unknown. He moved with his family to Scarborough in North Riding of Yorkshire when he was only four years. He is said to have battered his father so badly that his father was left with a double skull fracture.

The Prosecutors working on the case said  Tompkinson “unlawfully and maliciously inflicted grievous bodily harm”.

The famous personality allegedly appeared before North Tyneside magistrates’ court earlier this month where he pleaded not guilty.

Reports had it that the matter is so serious it had to be sent to crown court for trial by jury.
