Who is Sarina Wiegman?

Sarina Petronella Wiegman  also known as Sarina Wiegman-Glotzbach is a Dutch football manager and former player.

Sarina Wiegman has been manager of the England women’s national team since September 2021.Wiegman football career started as a central midfielder and later converted to a defender.

Sarina Wiegman attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and also played  for the North Carolina Tar Heels women’s soccer team. Sarina Joined the Ter Leede women’s team and she did this  while working as physical education teacher.

Ter Leede won the Dutch championship and the KNVB cup. Sarina Wiegman played for the Netherlands from 1987 to 2001 with 104 caps.

She became an assistant coach of the national  and attained the full status  of a coach after receiving her full coaching license.

Sarina Wiegman is the first woman coach to have worked at the Dutch professional football organization.

The manner and seriouness with which she applies to her work, made her, Wiegman led her team to victory in the UEFA women’s Euro in 2017.

Sarina also led  team to 2019 FIFA women’s world Cup and they finished as runners-up medal.

Sarina Wiegman’s role at the England team  was announced in August 2020 and took up the job in 2021.

Wiegman guided England through the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 final. The Lioness had a sweet victory after 1-1 draw after the first 90 minutes. It was during the extra time that Chloe Kelly gave them the needed victory.
