Donovan Lewis was under arrest for charges of domestic violence, assault and the improper handling of a firearm.

The police had secured an arrest warrant and that was why they had come to his apartment.

Ricky Anderson  is said to have pushed open Donovan Lewis’s bedroom door. As he did, the police dog barked before the officer fired.

It was a single shot, that went into Lewis’ abdomen, Police Chief Elaine Bryant told reporters.

With the Ohio Bureau of Investigation  saying they will investigate Lewis’s killing.

This is what Ricky Anderson lawyer, Mark Collins had to say. He said the said probe must include “the totality of the circumstances”.

He added: “we are expressly forbidden from using 20/20 hindsight, because unlike all of us, officers are not afforded the luxury of armchair reflection when they are faced with rapidly evolving, volatile encounters in dangerous situations.”
