King Misuzulu Ka Zwelithini legal tussle
In May last year, there were media reports that court papers had been filed in the Pietermaritzburg High Court. The court papers were challenging the validity of the late King Goodwill Zwelithini’s will.
The challenge was from the late King’s first wife, Sibongile Winifred Dlamini, and the two daughters she had with the King, Princess Ntandoyenkosi and Princess Ntombizosuthu.
Aside the court cases on the will, there are also disputes over his validity to the throne.
A section of the royal family who are opposed to Misuzulu as the successor, rather recognizes his eldest brother, Simagade Zulu ka Zwelithini, as the rightful heir.
The rival family faction held the ukungena esibayeni ceremony for Simagade just last week.
This decision however is not backed by the rest of the royal family’s elders who support Misuzulu as the rightful king.
