Who is Matt O’Neil?
He is a man from Carrigaline in Cork. Matt O’Neil is a 29 year old man.
Reports say Matt O’Neill was said to be hit in both the head and the neck in that unfortunate attack.
He had to struggle out of his location to look for help by himself. Matt O’Neill suffered this unfortunate and undeserving attack on Wednesday evening.

The 29 year old Matt O’Neill is said to have come from a popular family in the Carrigaline area of Co Cork.
He was attacked in the town’s Glenwood estate, where he lives. Simply put, he was attacked at home
He is said to be currently fighting for his life in a hospital with his family holding a vigil at his bed side.
His situation is critically as the 29 year old loss some high quantity of blood in the attack. This sterns from the fact that he did not get help early as he had to staggered out of his location to raise an alarm for help.
Matt had to undertake an emergency surgery, but is said to be still in a critical state.
Who attacked MattO’Neill?
Gardai are reported to hoklding a 19 year old man. He was arrested following the attack on MattO’Neill.
He is said to be held possibly beyond 24 hours with them.
The attack is said to have happened around 5.45pm.
A Gardai spokesperson said: “The assault is understood to have happened at approximately 5.45p.m. A man, aged in his late 20s, was found on the roadway with injuries. The man was taken to Cork University Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
“A man (late teens) has since been arrested and is currently detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Togher Garda station.
“Gardaí are appealing to any person who may have witnessed this incident to contact them.
“Any person who was in the vicinity of Glenwood Estate, Carrigaline, between 5p.m. and 5.45p.m. yesterday evening Wednesday 28th December 2022, particularly any road users who may have camera footage (including dash cam) of the incident, is asked to contact investigating Gardaí.
“Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to contact Togher Garda Station on 021 494 7120, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.”
