We will look at Charles Opoku who is the parliamentary candidate elect for the ruling New Patriotic party(NPP).
We will look at his personal life and that of his political life which saw him toppled his lone contender for the party primaries.
Charles Opoku pulled 397 votes which represents 74.06% of the votes cast to beat his only contended for the Assin North by-election which was held today, 7th June,2023.
He is thus the confirmed candidate to represent the party in an election which is seen as a do or die affair.
It is an election which will either tell the state of affairs of the ruling party or confirm the belief of its followers that they have discharged their mandate well.

Long before the NPP primaries which was held today, the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) came out to speculate that the Electoral Commission was trying to insert the name of Charles Opoku into the Assin North register.
The electoral commission came out to denied that they are are working out such as a sinister plot.
They added that, he does not need to be in the Assin North register to stand as a candidate for the election.
But who is Charles Opoku who is sending so much fears into the NDC already?
Well, we know he is a resident or is based in Tarkwa Nsuem for that is where he registered as a voter during the 2020 registration.
Charles Opoku is an indigene of the Assin North constituency.
Charles Opoku is also reported to be “a popular philanthropist in the Central Region”.
He is credited with creating many opportunities for the youth in the Assin North Constituency.
Charles Opoku is the Chief Executive officer for Akosua Baako Foundation.
He is said to have had a partnership with the National service secretariat and their personnel association to help in organizing extra classes.
These classes organised by Charles Opoku is to improve education in the District. He is also said to have served his party well and will be rewarded handsomely by the constituents of Assin North.
