Who was Bernard O’Donoghue?
He was a 93 year old man. Bernard O’Donoghue is an uncle to Irish famous broadcaster Joe Duffy.
He(Joe) has described Bernard O’Donoghue as his favorite uncle.
The 93 year old is the second in a row in Joe Duffy’s family to have died this year alone.
His death follows that the broadcaster’s mother who died in February.
Bernard O’Donoghue funeral is slated for 24th December,2022. It is a way of saying the 93 year old almost made to Christmas.The Broadcaster in a Twitter message spoke about how his uncle “was like a father to us, especially at Christmas time”.
“Early on the day, he would arrive in Claddagh Green to take the order from my mother, Mabel, who sadly passed away this year at 93. He would also cast his DIY eye over Claddagh Green, assessing what had to be fixed. He even made the star for the top of our Christmas tree – or more importantly wallpapering.”
He gave a an instance when his uncle would “stumble in with the turkey under one arm, his stepladder draped over his shoulder, clutching wallpapers, tools, and tables”
Joe Duffy message continued that “On St Stephen’s Day we made our traditional trip to Aunty Monica and Uncle Bernard’s in Rafters Road in Drimnagh for our annual feast of food, singing, and fun. Our childhood efforts at poetry and performance were diligently recorded by Bernard on his state-of-the-art reel-to-reel tape recorder – and they still exist.”

He was born as Joseph Duffy on 27th January,1956. He is an Irish Broadcaster working with Raidió Teilifís Éireann.
He is reported to be one of the stations highest earning staff and he is currently working as a presenter on Liveline.
He is has been an active person in Ireland and his activism dates back to his school days when he was a student leader.
Joe Duffy was a one time president of the Union of students in his native Ireland.
He is an active christian and advocates for justice for all. Justices he said which are “very much based on Christian teaching and principles”.
