We will look at the Nashville Covenant school shooting incident. We will try to determine who the shooter is and what its gun laws state.
The Nashville Covenant School incident
It is a tragedy again in America. This is a tragedy which is occurring in a school again. It is not quiet clear why most of its gun violence find their way into the schools against innocent children.
Three innocent children and three staff have been killed after a “gunwoman” opened fire in a private school.
The shooting incident occurred at a private Christian school by name Covenant school.
It happened around 10.30 am when law enforcement officers receive news of the attack.
The Metro Nashville PD reported that: “An active shooter event has taken place at Covenant School, Covenant Presbyterian Church, on Burton Hills Dr. The shooter was engaged by MNPD and is dead. Student reunification with parents is at Woodmont Baptist Church, 2100 Woodmont Blvd”.
The Nashville Fire department also reported of the incident as follows on their twiiter handle. They wrote:
“We are responding to an active aggressor at 33 Burton Hills Blvd Covenant School. We can confirm we have multiple patients. Parents coming to the school should go to 20 Burton Hills at this time. this is an active scene”.
Who is the shooter at the Nashville Covenant school?
She is a 28-year-old woman. She was “strapped with two assault rifles and a handgun” according police records.
Police met at the second floor of the school.
Shee has been described by the Nashville fire department as an “active aggressor” in their twitter message.
The police department described him simply as a shooter. The further indicated that “The shooter was engaged by MNPD and is dead”.
Who are the victims of the Nashville Covenant school shooting incident?
Shee is said to have killed three children. The identities of these children are not yet known. The total number of people who have died have risen to seven and this includes the three children.
They were taken to hospital with gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead.
John Howser who is the chief communications officer for Vanderbilt University Medical Center is quoted to have said in a statement that: “[Three] pediatric patients were transported to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, all having suffered gunshot wounds. All three were pronounced dead after arrival.”
The police did name the this shooter who is said to be now dead.
We cannot determine at the moment what her motives are and what connection he had with the school for him to have had entry into their premise.
What does Tennessee gun laws say about adults carrying guns?
Wikipedia information we sought revealed that: “Effective July 1, 2021, Tennessee no longer requires a permit to carry a firearm, whether openly or concealed for residents and non-residents”.
The only requirement is that the said adult should only be 21 or 18 if the person is a military member. Many who commented on the social media thinks this is problematic. They think that this might have contributed to deadly attacks we have witnessed across American schools.
Covenant christian school? Who are they?
They are a christian school. Information sourced from their website said they teach students in grades pre-K through 6th grade.
The school has about 200 students enrolled in it. The head of the school is Dr. Katherine Koonce. It was founded in 2001 by the ministry of Covenant Presbyterian Church
