Who is Naomi Judd?

Naomi Judd  is an American singer and actress. She was born on 11th January,1946 as Diana Ellen Judd. Naomi Judd parents were Pauline Ruth and Charles Glen Judd in Kentucky. She had two daughters with two different men. The first man who was a boyfriend(Charles Jordan) to her  and he abandoned her. The second man married  her after a few meetings. The second man, now her husband (Michael Ciminella) also left her after sharing a daughter with her. This forced her to raise both daughters by herself and changed their surnames to her fathers name.

The popular figured formed a  two member musical  group along with her first daughter. The duo who were into country music  were successful and went ahead to win several awards.

Wynonna Judd.

Wynonna Ellen Judd was born  as Christina Claire Ciminella to Diana Ellen Judd and Charles Jordan.

Her father left her mother even before she was born and her mother had to quickly marry another man by name Michael Ciminella.  Wynonna was given the last name of her foster father. She was born on 30th May, 1964 when her mother Naomi was only 18 years.

Wynonna Judd is famous American country music singer. Her success in the genre  include 19 number one singles. This made Wynonna one of the best -selling country music artist of all time. Incredible, is it not?

Her rise to fame was in the 1980’s along with her mother in the two member group. The group had to their credit seven albums as well as 26 singles. Fourteen out of those 26 singles made it to  the No.1 hits.

Wynonna and her mother group ended in 1991 and she went ahead to pursue  her solo career with the same records the Curb records.

With such a phenomenal achievement in music in general and country music in particular, Wynonna was  inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame as a one of the living member of The Judd’s sisters.

Ashley Judd

Ashley Judd  was born as  Ashley Tyler Ciminella on 19th April , 1968. She is a famous American actress.

Ashley Judd share fame with two other popular relatives. They are Naomi Judd and Wynonna Judd who are her mother and elder sister respectively.

The pair are popular country music stars  who have both been inducted into the Country Music hall of fame in 2022.

Ashley Judd unlike her family members could not trace a career in music like them but found one in acting.

Her acting career spans over ten years and she also doubles in humanitarian activities.

Ashley Judd has also gone in to politics and play an active role during one of Obama’s campaigns. Ashley’s father’s just like her sister’s father equally left their mother.

Ashley Judd is well educated. She had a BA degree from the University of Kentucky.

She also earned a Mid-career MPA degree from  the John F. Kennedy school of  government at Harvard.

Ashley was honored with a DHL honorary degree from Union College in 2009.

The Judd’s sisters: are they related?

The Judd’s sisters are the duo of Naomi Judd and Wynonna Judd. They formed the Judds in 1983 and went out to achieve great success together. Though the Judd family is made up of three females, it is only Naomi and Wynonna that were called the Judd’s sister. As indicated early, the Judd’s sisters broke up after mother Naomi was diagnosed with hepatitis C in 1991.  While Wynonna went solo with Music, Naomi concentrated with  the  Education and Research Fund in 1991 on the  awareness of hepatitis C. She also continue her acting career. The Judds reunited in both 1999 and 2000 for the New Year’s Eve concert and the Power to Change tours respectively.

Naomi Judd later recovered from her hepatitis C, but had depressions among other sickness. She died on 30th April,2022 from her own firearm.

Naomi Judd self-inflicted gunshot wound killed her at her home in Leiper’s Fork, Tennessee.

The famous actress and country music icon was 76 at the time of her death. Naomi Judd the mother of Wynonna and Ashley Judd with whom she raised alone struggle with anxiety, panic attacks and suicidal thoughts.

The country music Hall of “famer” medications prescribed for her, included lithium which produced side effects like  facial edema, alopecia and tremors. The medicine could still not save the life of Naomi Judd.
