Meet Mary Earps.
Mary Alexandra Earps is a British professional footballer. Earps is also a goalkeeper for the Manchester United in the Women’s Super League.
She was born on March7, 1993 and was part of the England national team who won the Euro 2022.
Mary Earps has played for the FA Women’s Super League teams like Briston Academy, Birmingham City, Doncaster Belles, and Reading, and in the Bundesliga with VfL Wolfsburg.
Earps has also played for England in all age categories like the Under 17, 19 and the under 23 levels. Her first cap at the senior level was in 2017.
In 2012, Mary Earps was in the 2012 UEFA Women’s Under -19 Championship for her country England. Though England exited at the group stage, Earps was highly praised for her performances.
Her performances paid off the following year during the 2013 Summer Universities in Kazan in Russia. She led England to their gold medal in the tournament.
Mary Earps had her first call up to the FIFA women’s World Cup qualification match against Montenegro. This was after Karen Bardsley and Brown -Finnis had injuries.
In 2017, she was called up for the 2017 Euros, but as a fourth goal keeper and that gave her first win cap at the senior level. Mary Earps also had a call up in 2019 as part of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World cup. Her hard work paid off as she was called as the starting goal keeper in 2021. She and her team fought for the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 victory.
Earps was the starting goal keeper for all England’s matches including the famous finals which England won over Germany.
She conceded only two out of the six games and this made her tied with fellow finalist Germany goal keeper Merle Frohms.
