Who are Ike Ekweremadu and Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu?
They are Nigerian couple who have been caught trying to harvest the organs of an innocent Nigerian man for their daughter.
Ike Ekweremadu and Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu are said to be a rich couple, who command both power and respective in Nigeria.
Ike Ekweremadu is a 60 year old man, while his wife Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu is also a 55 year old woman.
The couple have a 25 year old daughter who also goes by the name Sonia Ekweremadu.
Ike Ekweremadu is reported to be a senior senator in the Nigerian Parliament.
Their daughter Sonia is sick and is said to be suffering from kidney failure and requires dialysis.
As the saying goes that wealth cannot buy health, this couple thought, they can break this golden rule.
They decided to buy health with their wealth!!!
However, the prosecutor in the case, Hugh Davies KC said: “There are, however, certain things that money and status cannot guarantee in any family and they include good health.”
How did Ike Ekweremadu and Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu do this?
The couple decided to exploit the poverty stricken country in which they live to their advantage.
The couple came into an agreement with a vulnerable young man to give him cash in return for his vital organs which their daughter need badly.
They trafficked the man who is said to be only 21 years from Lagos in Nigeria to UK for this diabolical agenda.
This young man was to trade off his vital kidney for a pantry £7,000.
This young man was a poor man who was selling “telephone parts from a cart in public markets”.
They transported the man to London and coached him to give false answers to doctors.
The told this poor fella to say, their daughter,Sonia is his cousin so that the transplant can take place at the Royal Free Hospital.
The court procedure, hearing this case said, the 21 year old man had a “limited understanding” of why he was being brought to the hospital.
He however relieved when he was told, the procedure will not go ahead.
The Ekweremadus family denied the claims of conspiracy charge leveled against them.
The doctor who was also working as a middle man in the whole transaction, one ” Dr Obinna Obeta also denied the same charge.
