Who was Gordon Sparks?
He was famed for his presentation of “BBC radio Devon’s Breakfast Show”.
He has a 32 year experience of commentary on The Plymouth Argyle football games.
He was also a famed disc jockey and was even given the name “the voice of Plymouth Argyle”.
He was diagnosed of cancer and said to have died from same.
Gordon Sparks was 61 years at the time of his death.
He is reported to have been receiving treatment at the St. Luke’s Hospice in Plymouth.
He was receiving Cancer treatment.
Even on the field of play, G. Spark was celebrated. Fans reportedly sang his name on stadium.
This happened during Plymouth’s victory at MK Dons on Saturday, acco0rding to reports from the BBC.
Steven Schumacher, Plymouth boss said: “He will be remembered as an Argyle legend.
“It was very emotional listening to our fans singing his name in the stands at Milton Keynes Dons yesterday.”
Argyle chief executive Andrew Parkinson said: “It is difficult to put into words what Gordon Sparks meant to everyone associated with Argyle, but we are certain that he understands the love and affection held for him from fans, players, and staff alike.
Tributes have been coming in thick and thin.
Angela Kalwaites had kind words for her colleague. A tweet from her reads:”We will all miss our friend and colleague so much – he was definitely one-of-a-kind with a massive heart and sense of humour.”
“Gordon was a broadcasting legend – honest and brave through the toughest times. He will be missed dearly.”
