He was a British commentator who began his television commentary with BBC as far back in 1971.

His commentary job at the BBC started in radio 2 in 1968.

Before taking on a career in commentary, John Motson was a player with Dulwich Hamlet Fc.

The late 77 commentator has more than 2000 commentaries on both radio and television.

He was said to be the choice commentator for the BBC during football games. His activity with the British Broadcaster spanned from 1970s to 2008.

His only rival in the space was none other than his friend Barry Davies.

He retired from BBC in 2008 in their live television commentaries but remained in the game.

He continue in the game by covering for Match of the Day highlights. He equally appeared on BBC Radio five live.

John Motson finally bowed out of the BBC with an impeccable record.

His record at the station include ten World Cups, 29 FA Cup Finals and 10 UEFA European Championships.

After staying in retirement for a year, he came back to sports, but this time around for the Talksport in 2018.

John Motson cause of death?

Motson who was a supported of Barnet F.C died on 23rd February, 2023.

The late broadcaster was 77. His cause of death was not disclosed.

Who is John Motson wife?

He was in a happy marriage with his wife Anne Motson.  The marriage was a happy one because they were married for 43 years.

Anne Motson is a fan of football and is from North East.

The wife of the commentator is reported to have compiled more journals in Football and this spans over 3o years.

Her compilations teams results, newspapers cuttings as well as squad news.

Motty called her  the ‘ultimate statto’.

The couple lived together in Hertfordshire and it is just a striking distance from Motson’s club Barnet.

He was given the appointment in 2001 and it was for his contribution in sports broadcasting.
