Who is Ferdinand Omanyala?
Ferdinand Omanyala Omurwa is a famous Kenya Sprinter who is into the 100m and the 200m events.
He was born on 2nd January 1996 to Dishon and Adelaide Omurwa.
Ferdinand Omanyala is the third son of his parents and was born in Hamisi in Kenya. He holds the title as the current African and the world’s 8th fastest man of all time. This is the record he holds in the 100metres in a record time of 9.77 on 18th September 2021, which he recorded in his native Kenya.
His career began in the University of Nairobi when a friend noticed his speed in a game of rugby. He won the national Olympic trials in a time of 10.37s just after switching from Rugby to track and field.
He had won the national title on 100m in 2019 after returning from a 14 month suspension after testing positive for the banned substance betamethasone.
Ferdinand Omanyalan set a record of 9.77 as a new record in Africa in 2021 in Kenya.
Omanyala is in the 2022 Commonwealth games and he has won Kenya’s first gold medal at the games in Birmingham. He has made the record by becoming the first Kenyan to win a gold medal in the 100 metre race.
