Barbaric as man gets life in jail for sacrificing wife and daughter to gods.
The Jury in Bolgatanga has found Mbawona Tindana guilty of the offence of murder contrary to section 46 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (29).
He is convicted for sacrificing his 2-year-old daughter by name Nyapoka Mbawona Tindana to his gods. He also went further to kill his wife, Talata Abigail Kurug after he accused mother and daughter of witchcraft.
Mr. Mbawona Tindana, the convict, from the facts of the case, is a self-acclaimed spiritualist and Tindana of Kolpelga. It is a suburb of Tongo in the Talensi District of the Upper East Region of Ghana.
Strangely enough, the convict on June 27, 2019, at about 4:30pm, used two medium axes to chop the heads of the two victims, killing them instantly after accusing them of being witches.
Mbawona, then used the body of the 2-year-old as a sacrifice to his idols. He reportedly abandoned the body of his wife on the ground which was a few meters away from the idols.
Charles Adjei Wilson, the Supervising High Court Judge who read out the facts of the case in court said one of the witnesses, Mary indicated that they were sitting under a mango tree on the said day when they heard the screaming of the late wife of the convict.
This was after he had killed his daughter and when the arrived at the scene, they saw that the convict had killed the 2-year-old already, but the wife was still live. He added that Mary said they were afraid to interfere since he was still holding the axe.

Another witness, who is an 11-year-old son of the convict in his account said, he saw his father struggling with the mother after he came for his sister and killed the two in the process.
The boy added that his father chased and inflicted cutlass wounds on him. He was, however, lucky to have been saved by some community members who were playing football.
It is not clear why Mary and the 11 year old boy did not raise an alarm for this man to be arrested earlier.

He said his daughter confessed to him that she was a witch and that she was initiated by her mother. He added that when he accosted the mother on the allegation, she denied.
He said he loved his wife and daughter and could not have done that to them, addeding that he does not know their where about.
A seven member jury who deliberated on the case found 35 years old Mbawona guilty of murder which resulted in the sentenced.
