President Akufo-Addo has nominated the Member of Parliament for Walewale Lariba Zuweira Abudu as Minister-designate for Gender, Children and Social Protection. This comes after the Honorable Adwoa Safo was fired just last week.
The President, Nana Akufo Addo has also nominated Member of Parliament for Kwabre East, Francisca Oteng Mensah as Deputy Minister-designate for Gender, Children and Social Protection.
The appointment of the above two honorable members are subject to the approval of Parliament.
Attached is the letter from the Presidency announcing the appointments.
There were social media campaigns last week in which some Ghanaians called on the President to appoint former Upper Regional Minister as Adwoa Safo’s replacement. However, it seems those pleas did not get to the president and even it it did, that choice did not appeared to be the one the President felt should do the job.
The government was seeking a double dose punishment for Adwoa Safo by removing her from Parliament and the Ministry at the same time. They could however not manage to achieve the one in parliament.
This leaves them with one choice of relieving her of her post at the gender ministry.
