Double victory for CKT-UTAS SRC president elect Alfred Asante.

Alfred Asante is happy man as he has been able to achieve two monumental victories in his honour.

The level 400Mathematics and economics students of CK Tedam University contested for the 2021/2022 SRC presidential elections.

The elections were conducted on February 17th,2022. Alfred Asante, who was not satisfied with the results, took the matter to the Bolgatanga High Court.

It has been seven months of going to court and the student was actually served with the justice he was looking for.

The court, which was presided over by His Lordship Charles Agyei Wilson, ordered the SRC electoral commission to conduct fresh elections for the same year.

Mr. Asante seized the opportunity to represented him and stood for the re-run which was conducted on August 15th,2022.

In the re-run elections conducted on August 15th, 2022, His contenders in the first election withdrew from the race.

This gave a chance to one new entrant, Mr. Najeed Iddrisu, who contested with Alfred Asante.

Mr. Asante, however, came out victorious with a huge margin of 71.77% against that of his contender, Najeeb Iddrisu, who had 28.3% of the votes.

This gave him a double victory: he won the case in court and he also won the position for which he went to court.

An elated Alfred Asante had this to say when A1 radio asked for his thoughts on his victories.

As I speak to you now, I am the President-elect of CKT-UTAS, Navrongo. When I was contesting, there were these conspiracies that were going around that when I came, I was going to fight with the university’s management, but I want to state categorically that I am someone who believes in the fact that the right thing must be done, and it must be done once and for all. “I placed myself in the field to challenge the system and also that everything that has to do with the students is protected,” the new CKT_UTAS President stated.
