Bongo District Hospital Mortuary: the people of Bongo deserve better than this.

There have been calls by celebrities for our public mortuaries to be fixed. This follows a documentary on GHOne about the morgue at the largest hospital in the country, the Korle Bu teaching hospital. Celebrities such as Sarcodie, Stone Bwoy, Mzvee, and Mr. Drew added their voices for the government to fix the country’s morgues.
Bongo District Hospital Mortuary: the people of Bongo deserve better than this.
Your number one news source, www.archornews.com has been to the Bongo district hospital and can report that the morgue or “the holding center for the dead” is nothing to write home about. The structure is not even fit for them to store dead animals, let alone dead bodies.
Ghanaians celebrated the dead, as we can see during funerals and the last thing to do for the dead is to put the corpse in a place not fit even for animals. The structure, as you can see in the picture, is made up of zinc with a door at the entrance. Relatives who lose their loved ones at the Bongo hospital have to arrange on that same day to either take the body home for burial or transfer the body to the Bolgatanga regional hospital morgue. This is because the material used in constructing the structure can make the body decay even faster.
The people of Bongo District deserve better. A district hospital which is over 20 years old should have a standard morgue to go with it.
We are appealing to the DCE for Bongo, the member of parliament for the constituency and the Regional Minister,
as a matter of urgency to do something about this situation.
You are welcome to share your views and to share pictures of the other district hospitals morgues in our region to pile pressure on duty bears to fix them.
You can call our hotline on our website for breaking news in your locality and it will be covered.
