Bolgatanga gets new edifice for its divisional police command.
The Upper East region will soon see a boost in its security following the commissioning of a new edifice for the police in the region.

The Regional Minister Stephen Yakubu has commissioned a new edifice for the Bolgatanga Divisional Police Command.

The divisional command is expected to supervise security in the municipality and its surrounding district of Tongo, Bolga East, and Bongo.

The newly constructed divisional command structure,which we have not witnessed its kind in a long while  is a self help project.

It was built from contributions from members of the public and business persons in the region.

The Regional Minister who spoke to the media assured people of the region that the police service are on top of their game. He added that they are ready and poised to nib in the bud recent pockets of robberies witnessed in the region.

The Minister said there have been a slight increase of robberies in the region, but was quick to add that he is confident the police service in the region are working to put things under control.

Mr. Yakubu further added that there will be more deployment of police and military personnel in the region following the border security concerns.

He said the region expects about 183 more police personnel and called on all to embraced some attitudinal change.

Bolgatanga gets new edifice for its divisional police command.

“Things are currently not pretty good. You know, initially, things were fantastic but a few weeks now, I am hearing that the criminals are also finding their way of getting back I just had a meeting with the police and we are looking at ways of ensuring Bolga gets back to normal.

Upper East in general has always been on high alert because of our border situation and because of the jihadist in other countries therefore, government intent is to make sure this region is up to the task, and because of that more police, soldiers and logistics will be deployed to the region so we are getting about 183 specially trained police officers,” the Minister said.

The Divisional Police Commander  for Bolgatanga, Chief Superintendent of Police, Dela Dzansi said the police  service acknowledged the efforts of the stakeholders in seeing to the successful completion of the project.

He further added that the structure has placed them in a better position to do their job of maintaining peace and improving security in the region.
