There has been an attack on the Chiana-Paga party Chairman of the NDC, James Kojo Kopanamo.
Angry NDC youth attack Chiana-Paga party Chairman
He was attacked by an angry youth of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Chiana-Paga constituency . The incident allegedly happened on Friday at the party constituency office, when the party were on a reorganization activity.
The reason for the attack, Mr Kopanamo said was as result of a petition against some party members in the constituency. He added that the Regional Vice Chairman of the party, Abubakari Salifu Atongo had come to the constituency on the behest of the petition. He indicated that they were on the issue when the attack happened.
“So, we were going through the petition and suddenly, a youth group storm the place without any apparent reason. So there was a confrontation. So I told them to leave the place. And numbering about 15 of them [party youth] attacked me.”
The Chiana -Paga Constituency of the NDC added that aside the physical assault he suffered, the youth also made away with the money on him.
“They vandalized my trousers and took away an amount of Ghc3,750. So, I went and made a report to the police and they gave me a form, and I went to the Paga hospital. They gave me an injection and some drugs.”
NDC Chiana-Paga party Chairman attributes attack on him to a failed parliamentary candidate.
He blamed one Nikyema Billa Alamzy, a failed parliamentary candidate of the constituency for the attack.
“The accusations started some time ago that I worked against their preferred candidate for the choice of a parliamentary candidate. So they think they must teach me a lesson. So it presupposes that whatever they are doing, he must have knowledge of it. That is a fact. He can’t run away from that.”

Mr. Alamzy however denied the accusation against him, stating that
“That is mediocrity. What am I contesting for and the chairman is not supporting me? I don’t deal with things in the past. How will I know whether he supported me or not? How can you tell whether one supported you or not? And he is the chairman, they weren’t allowed to partake in the politics. So how will I know whether he supported me or not?
