Fire at Kumasi shoe factory as 3 injured in a near fatal gas explosion scene.
Three people have been injured at the Kumasi shoe factory fire incident. The incident which happened at about 11 am local time started when there was an attempt to transfer gas form a tanker into a cylinder at the factory.
Two cars were burnt in the process as the tanker transferring the gas into a cylinder at the facility got fire.
Workers who were busy at the time with their jobs had to rush out of the facility and this near stampede resulted in the 3 being injured.
Fire men who were called to the scene were busy fighting the fire while the injured have been sent to a health facility for medical attention. This is the report of the firemen at the scene as captured by Joy News.
“We are learning two of the injured persons have been discharged; so, at least one is still there. Authorities of the Shoe Factory say they are still conducting preliminary investigations and would come out with more findings,”
Factory ventured into production of fashionable shoes in April 2022.
In April, 2022, the shoe factory which is also called the GIHOC footwear division came out with fashionable shoes which they said have the potential of capturing the Ghanaian and Africa market is in this sad reality again.
The factory has a capacity of producing 700,000 pairs of different shoes and boots. However they are currently producing 100,000 pairs annually. The introduction of the fashionable shoes was to help scale up production at the factory.
This was disclosed after the shoes which mass production started in 2018 were showed cased in their showroom in Accra.
We are waiting patiently for the fire service on the extent of damage of the facility which have seem a face lift recently.
